“Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald” Special Event Split Rock Lighthouse Nov. 1 & 2, 2014
The Stillwater Amateur Radio Association (SARA) will be operating to commemorate the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Using the club’s call sign, WØJH, twenty SARA members will operate from Split Rock Lighthouse (ARLHS USA 783) in Lake County, Minnesota. This year marks the 39th anniversary of ship’s mysterious sinking.

“This is the tenth consecutive year we’ve participated in this special event from the shores of Gitche Gumee (Lake Superior),” according to SARA activities & events chair, Dave Glas (WØOXB). “For our operators and more than a thousand hams around the world, it’s been a popular event that pays tribute to all hands lost on the famous iron ore carrier. And, special TNX to the Radio City and Courage Kenny Handiham organizations for supporting our event!”
