Radios in the Park Thursday June 14th
Radios in the Park returns for the summer on Thursday June 14 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This session features a hands-on session on using an antenna tuner, facilitated by Dave WØOXB.
Radios in the Park is held at Valley View Park in Oak Park Heights 5575 Ozark Avenue North in Oak Park Heights. The park entrance is on Osgood Avenue just past the houses. Mapping programs and GPS units will take you to the address located in the residential area just west of the park. There is no vehicle access from that location, so you need to use the park entrance located on Osgood just south of the power transmission lines.
Additional dates of July 5, July 26, August 16 and September 6 are scheduled. The July 26 session will feature an Antenna Shootout that will test the efficiency of various antennas such a multi-band center dipole, and end fed wire, a homebrew Buddistick vertical, and a Buddipole. Any one have a magnetic loop to join the testing? Testing will be at low power using WSPR and relying on the WSPRnet for reception reports.
Radios in the Park is open to all area amateur radio operators to attend, bring you portable kit, throw up an antenna and get on the air. Or to come out and see what others are doing for portable operations. There is plenty of space in the park to spread out.
