Field Day 2016 – June 25 & 26 – FOXHUNTING ADDED

SARA’s Field Day 2016 will return to Autumn Hills Park, 5701 Norwich Parkway in Oak Park Heights on June 25 and 26.  A 2-station (Phone & CW/Digital), emergency power operation (2A MN)  is planned. We will be using a Kenwood TS590 transceiver from the HELP project at each station. Multi-band center-fed dipole antennas will be utilized. A GOTA (Get On The Air) Station is planned for Saturday, utilizing a Kenwood TS570 and the HELP project Buddipole recently acquired. Set-up will begin around 9:00 AM Saturday June 25 and we will go on the air at 1:00 PM (1800Z). Operations will continue until sundown Saturday (due to park hours limits) and resume around 8:00 AM Sunday the 28th until 1:00 Pm (1800Z).

JUST CONFIRMED: Foxhunting will be featured on Saturday! Dan Franz WD0GUP will be deploying a few hidden transmitters in the park for those who would like to try their hand at Foxhunting on Saturday. Dan will have several antennas and radios on hand for folks to experience the thrill and challenge of finding a Fox (hidden transmitter)!

Coffee & donuts will be available Saturday and Sunday morning. The main food fixings for Saturday are provided, but we ask participants to bring along side dishes (chips, salads, bars, cookies) to share. Pop & water will be provided. An adult beverage permit has been secured, bring your own if you’d like.

There’s plenty of opportunity to learn and operate at Field Day. Help is needed for set-up Saturday morning, operators for both Phone and CW stattions, the kitchen detail, and teardown Sunday.

To volunteer to operate PHONE/SSB or help with the GOTA Station, contact Joe KC0OIO ( kc0oio at radioham.org ). For CW, contact Bob W0GAF ( w0gaf at radioham.org ). And for setup and teardown, let Joe KC0OIO know when you’ll be there.

I look forward to seeing many of you at Field Day 2016!
