Ham Radio Licensing Classes sponsored by SARA
The Stillwater Amateur Radio Association will be hosting a Technician Licensing Class as well as an Amateur Extra Class License Study Group this spring.
Technician Licensing Class
Classes will be held from 6 – 8 pm, on the following dates:
March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
April 7, 14, 21
SARA instructors will review a new chapter of ARRL Ham Radio License Manual each week.
The student text for the Technician Licensing Class is the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 3rd Edition. A limited number of books will be available to purchase at the first session. Students may also purchase the book online or at Radio City in Mounds View. A Kindle e-book version is available from Amazon.
The class is free. Students will need to purchase the manual for $29.95.
Amateur Extra Class License Study Group
Study group sessions will be from 6 – 8 pm, on the following dates:
March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
April 7, 14, 21
This is the best chance you will have to prepare to upgrade before the question pool changes July 1st. The Amateur Extra Class License Study Group will be participant-led, with discussion each week focusing on a chapter or two in the License Manual. Participants will take turns serving as the moderator each week. A SARA facilitator will be there to guide the moderator and group each week.
The student text for the Amateur Extra Class License Study Group is the ARRL Amateur Extra Class License Manual 10th Edition. The current Amateur Extra Class License test question pool expires on June 30th. Students can purchase the book online or at Radio City in Mounds View. There is a VE session scheduled on April 28, which is one week after the last class session. The VE session will be held at Boutwells Landing in Stillwater. The testing fee is $15.00.
