White Rock Tri-State Special Event September 18-19-20, 2015 – White Rock, SD. Eight club members participated including the town’s Mayor Rudy. The team made about 450 contacts which was excellent considering the poor band conditions. All the QSLs were sent out last week. The team used a 160’ center-fed Zepp antenna and also operated on a vertical for 15, 20 and 40 meters. This was the club’s 5th time operating from White Rock since the event was started in 1999.

Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald Special Event Oct 30-31-Nov 1, 2015 – Split Rock State Park, Beaver Bay, MN. It’s time to make your reservations at the Mariner Motel in Silver Bay. Advance notice of details has been sent to QST & ARRL. This is the club’s 11th year for this event and will be marking the 40th year since the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Nov 10, 1975.

Program: “Fun With DXing” – presented by Mike Paskeuric NØODK

Mike gave a terrific overall view of how to get involved with DXing. Expensive equipment and elaborate antenna systems are not required. The key seems to be in correct timing, knowing where and when to search the bands, and perfecting your listening technique.

There are many different helpful resources available from online websites, forums, blogs, magazines and newsletters to find out how to make the most of your time in making contacts with other countries. There are also local clubs that are willing to educate newcomers to the techniques that need to be used to get the most enjoyment and best results from DXing.

The total presentation program has been posted on the club website.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:02 AM.
