CQ ALL NEWBIES!

ð  Do YOU have questions? If so, WE have answers!

If you’re a relatively new Amateur Radio operator but not gotten on the air, we have just the thing for you! Come and pick our experts’ brains! No question is too simple or difficult. We’ll have a variety of resource material that you can take (printed, dead-tree format) or we’ll provide info via digital/e-mail mode.

ð  But there’s MORE!

We’ll have hands-on practice with actual one-on-one QSOs via VHF handhelds. This experience will teach proper protocol, it’s bound to help new hams over “mic fright” and show how easy it is to get on the air!

Other Info & Details

:: We’ll be operating outdoors but we’ll also have use of the park’s shelter

:: If you have a VHF handheld, bring it (charge batteries, program SARA repeater and 147.550 MHz simplex)
:: Two HF stations (running on battery power) will be operating and can run different modes

:: Efficient, multi-band HF Zepp antennas will be deployed (would you expect anything else?!)
:: We can’t operate past sunset (it’s summer and it stays light much later!)

:: SARA has a permit to consume alcohol on site (BYOB – maybe bring something to share?)

What Can YOU Do?!
1. Plan to join us to operate.

(Newly licensed hams, Boy Scouts and the public who attend will have special opportunities to operate.)
2. Plan to join us to socialize.
3. “Talk-up” Field Day on the SARA repeater and other repeaters/frequencies!
4. Invite friends, family and neighbors – bring ‘em with you; all are welcome!
5. Help us if you can:
> Set-up: YOU can learn how to erect the infamous OXB Special® multi-band HF antenna!
> Operation: Do what’s comfortable for YOU; log, use a microphone and/or digital mode!
> Food Preparation: Assist with serving, etc.
> Take-down: The reverse of “Set-up” doesn’t take long!

A final Field Day discussion will be held Thursday, June 26 (6:00 – 7:00 pm) at the Stillwater Library.

TNX es hope to CU at Field Day!

73,
Dave (WØOXB)
