We require that you must set your transceiver to transmit a DCS – digital coded squelch (or DTCS depending on radio manufacturer) 026 or 026N (again depending on your radio terminology). If your transceiver is not programmed to do this, the repeater will not recognize your transmission and will not key up. It is highly recommended that you enable DCS decode on your receive. This will prevent analog FM radios from receiving the digital “noise” when the repeater is operating in C4FM mode.
The repeater has a coordinated coverage radius of 40 miles and an ERP of ~300 watts during normal grid power operation. The repeater is located just southeast of Stillwater on the Xcel Energy Power Company Stack.
The SARA Repeater has been upgraded to a System Fusion DR-1X as of mid-June 2018. The repeater is enabled in the Automatic Mode Select (AMS) configuration. This allows the repeater to handle both C4FM digital voice (DN) and Analog FM, although not simultaneously. A C4FM signal will put the repeater into the C4FM digital mode, and an analog FM signal will switch the repeater to Analog FM mode. Anyone using a Yaesu System Fusion radio with AMS enabled will switch to the present mode. Any analog FM radio will set the mode to Analog FM and thereby be able to utilize the repeater too. The WØJH repeater is WIRES-X linked as the W0JH-Room 63969.
