SARA’s 2016 “New Ham Night” May 19th
The Stillwater Amateur Radio Association is offering a hands-on information & training session for New Hams May 19 at Brekke Park in Oak Park Heights.
The New Hams Hands-on Skills & Demo Night is Thursday May 19th. This session is a follow-up to SARA’s Spring Technician Class and offers New Hams (and experienced ones still learning) an opportunity to learn how to program radios, use repeaters, operate simplex, check into Formal Nets, use common protocol on VHF/UHF, and increase operating skills. Learn lots of “Do’s and Don’ts” to help you have fun communicating. If you need help programming your radio (especially handhelds) bring it along and we’ll give a hand. Mentoring from seasoned Amateur Radio operators or “Elmers” will have you on the air and having fun in short order. A HF demonstration station or two will be operating that evening as well. This session will be at Brekke Park 5500 Omar Ave North Oak Park Heights, MN and will run from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
NEWS FLASH: Newly licensed (in 2016) amateur radio operators attending will have the chance to win one of two Wouxon KG-UV3R Dual-band Handheld Transceivers. Winner must be present to win. Additional mobile and hand-held transceivers and gear will be available for purchase as well.
