Thursday’s Eyeball QSO Session will be virtual
Due to room scheduling issues beyond our control, the Oct 13 Eyeball QSO Session will be a virtual ZOOM session beginning at 6:00 PM (1800 CDT, 2300 UTC). To join Zoom Meeting, please contact Joe KCØOIO at president at radioham dot org for the link.
A training session on the use of N3FJP’s ACLog logging program for the attendees of the Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald Special Event weekend at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park will begin about 6:30 PM. The new ACLog screen layout we will be implementing incorporates entry boxes for the necessary Parks on the Air (POTA) information for quickly logging Park-to-Park contact as well as our park info. POTA rules for club callsign operations allow that not only does the club get activator credit but also the operator at the microphone as well. ACLog has a way to track the operator and we will also cover that process.
Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald Special Event
For the 18th consecutive year, SARA will be Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald with a Special Event Station from Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Nov 4 thru 6, 2022. Make plans to participate in this special commemorative event, SARA’s biggest.
We will offer the opportunity for you to participate as part of the group onsite or from your own home.
Dave WØOXB reports a good response from members planning to make the trip to Split Rock. The club’s callsign WØJH will be used exclusively from Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. 21 members have advised they will be attending. A detail information packet was sent to those folks by Dave WØOXB earlier today.
WØF has been secured for exclusive use by those working from home stations, for any mode, any band, any time. A SignUpGenius page for managing mode/band/time slots for WØF is at available to SARA members. We have a use of the WØF special event callsign through Nov 12. This presents an opportunity to be “Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald” on the actual November 10 anniversary for a special day as WØF from member locations. The SignUpGenius page includes that date for band/mode timeslots. We can have multiple WØF on the air at the same time, although one for each band/mode/timeslot combination. Sign-up is now open to all members who wish to join our annual “Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald” special event.
