SARA This Week Dec 12 – Dec 18
SARA holds on-air ragchews every day of the week. A weekly in-person Eyeball QSO Party is held Thursday evenings at the Stillwater Public Library. Details can be found in the “This Week’s SARA Activities” section below.
2022 SARA Member Dues Reminder
Membership in the Stillwater Amateur Radio Association runs from Jan 1 – Dec 31. You may renew or extend your membership at any time.
Annual Dues are $20/year for a regular membership, and $10/year for associate membership. Family memberships begin at $30 for two family members and $10 for each additional family member.
There are 3 ways to pay your dues, in person at a SARA meeting, via postal mail to the club address, or online via PayPal (there is a small surcharge to cover transaction costs). You can begin the membership renewal process here: radioham.org/sara-
Monthly Meeting December 11
Thanks to those who attended the virtual meeting Saturday. The decision to cancel the in-person portion due to the winter storm proved to be the correct choice. A lively presentation and discussion on POTA (Parks on the Air) was the highlight of the morning.
There seems to be enough interest is activating and hunting POTA stations that the Board is going to look at some sort of challenge for SARA members for the coming year.
Slate of Officers for 2022
As stated in our by-laws, nominations for the officers are held at the December meeting and elections held at the January meeting of SARA.
The following slate of officers was nominated during the Dec. 11 monthly meeting.
President: Joe Heitzinger KCØOIO
Vice President: Bob Jensen WØGAF
Secretary: Dave Iverson N9JNQ
Treasurer: Rich Smith ADØSN
Director 2022-2023: Brad Harris VE3MXJ
Our continuing use of online virtual meeting platforms is allowing an international twist to our Board make-up as Brad has accepted the nomination as Director.
I want to thank Doug N9TOW for his 4 years of service as Director. Doug expresses his regret as family and work commitments have become more dynamic lately. Doug will continue as a key member of the Repeater team.
SARA White Elephant Exchange Party (SWEEP)
Don’t miss the ever-popular, always fun SWEEP! – rescheduled to the January 8th 2022 meeting.
There are plenty of laughs and lots of surprises.
As if you need a reason to participate, consider these benefits:
1. Clean your shack of something(s) you no longer need or want!
2. Go home with something more useful/desirable than you started with!
3. Have FUN with guaranteed SURPRISES!
(TMI Alert: As one SARA member said, “I laughed so hard, I almost wet my pants!”)
Each participant should bring at least one wrapped “White Elephant” gift to exchange. (The more you bring; the more you can leave with. You can bring up to 4 gifts.) This should be something related to Amateur Radio, in a broad sense, that’s maybe collecting dust in your Shack. It may be something you no longer use/need; and that someone else could use.
