General Meeting – September 13th at Boutwell’s Landing
Summer is on the wane and there are already hints of fall, which means it’s time to re-engage SARA membership for another season of activity. Summer was rather short this year. Field day was only a few months ago, since then members spent time at the cabin or on family vacations. Some of us got on the air, others considered modifications (perhaps fixing) their antenna setups. I’ve even heard rumors of a few new rigs upgrading our shacks.
I hope everyone had a great summer and are excited to get back on the air, and coming to meetings or eyeballs to get further engaged in the hobby. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at this month’s meeting, September 13th –– 9:00am at Boutwell’s Landing.
Specifics around this month’s program are still being put together. However, we will discuss recent activity around bill HR 4969:
The “Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2014” – introduced into the 113th Congress. This bipartisan effort would direct the FCC to extend the “reasonable accommodation” provisions for Amateur Radio antennas to include all types of land-use regulation, including deed restrictions and restrictive covenants.
You can learn more by going here: http://www.arrl.org/hr-4969
Again, I’m looking forward to seeing you at the general meeting on the 13th.
Don’t forget the pre-meeting-breakfast at Joseph’s Restaurant (7:30am) with other club members.
