October 3, 2013 Board Meeting Minutes

(The regularly scheduled meeting for September was rescheduled to this date, due to being unable to meet Quorum on the regularly scheduled date)

Board meeting called to order at 6:24 pm.

Board members in attendance: Peter Howard NØGRM, Dave Glass WØOXB, Dan Lee ADØDV.  We have a Quorum.

In attendance: Henry Schwartz KØHAS, Keith Miller AGØH, Jerry Berreth KBØJER, John Zuercher N5JLZ., Mike Paskeuric NØODK.

Secretary’s Report – Peter Howard welcomed Dan Lee ADØDV as our newly elected Secretary. A procedural step was discussed to have Treasurer Shel Mann NØDRX forward Treasurer’s report to the Secretary Dan Lee ADØDV.

Motion to table report by Dan Lee ADØDV, seconded by Peter Howard NØGRM. Motion passed.

Activities – Dave Glas WØOXB

SARA’s Oct 5, 2013 ADA walk out event will be held rain or shine.

Planning, organizing and reservations are currently underway for the Split Rock Special Event, which will be held on Nov. 1st through 3rd, 2013.  Number of attendees and logistics were discussed.

Dave Glas put the “all call” out for ideas and questions to be submitted to him for publishing in the SARA newsletter.

Videos were discussed for the November Club meeting.

Liability Insurance for members vs. invited guests (to Special Events) was discussed. Guests are strongly encouraged to join SARA.

Dave Glas requested Microsoft Publisher to be bought by the club.  A motion was made by Dave Glas to have the club buy Microsoft Publisher to be used for newsletter publication. Seconded by Dan Lee. The motion was approved.

Discussion to deal with the Commo hut:  Dave Glas will contact the prior owner Ken Kraft K9IKB, to discuss giving it back, or sell, with the proceeds donated to the Handihams.

Digital net: It was reported that Vice President Joe Heitzinger KCØOIO, will start up the Digital Net on the second Sunday at 7 p.m. in October.  More information will be coming at the General Meeting.

Deadline for newsletter article submission is 10/30.  Articles can be submitted on any topic by members. Dave Glas will be happy to answer any questions regarding article submission.

New Business

A motion was made by Dave Glas to give $100.00 to the Handihams in the name of Ed Lawson WØDIR (silent key). Seconded by Dan Lee and motion passed.

Dan Lee discussed the social network site, Facebook and put forward a motion to join Facebook as the Stillwater Amateur Radio Assn.  Motion was seconded by Peter Howard and motion passed.

Motion to adjourn the meeting by Peter Howard. Seconded by Dan Lee and motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:02.
