BOARD MEETING MINUTES – January 15, 2015

Meeting was called to order at 6:01 PM

Attendance – All seven officers were present plus three additional club members.

Secretary’s Report – Steve KAØOBI

Minutes for December 18, 2014 Board Meeting were approved as published.

Treasurer’s Report – John N5JLZ

Appointment of Trustee for 2015 – A motion to appoint Shel Mann NØDRX as Trustee was made, seconded and approved.

Activities/Events – Dave WØOXB

Ice Shack Portable – 2/14 to 2/16 – Joe KCØOIO, Bob WØGAF, and Bruce KØSON will meet at the next Thursday Eyeball meeting to finalize the details.

Field Day – 6/27 & 6/28 – the field house has been reserved by John N5JLZ for Autumn Hills Park.

White Rock, SD – considering this event for late summer/early fall for a Fri, Sat, and Sun, with participants staying at the Dakota Magic Casino in Hankinson, ND.

Split Rock – 10/31 to 11/2 – Looking for new ideas of different ways to operate this year.

MAP & HEARTS – Dave WØOXB

Outdoor maintenance projects are on hold until the end of winter except for emergencies.

Looking for more volunteers for testing and evaluating equipment donated to Handihams. Peter NØGRM volunteered.

Meeting Programs – Joe KCØOIO

February – Pat WAØTDA will explain how to operate using the remote stations.

March – Greg KØGW will talk about the latest ARRL activities and the benefits of ARRL membership.

April – Lyle KØLR will discuss SDR (Software Defined Radio).

May – Dick NØUC & Mike KCØIQW will tell us about Broadband HamNet and re-purposing Linksys routers. (tentatively scheduled)

Sometime in the fall – Mike NØODK will tell us how to have fun with DX.

Education and Training – Bob WØGAF

Skywarn Weather Spotter Class – Feb 28th 10:30AM to 3:30 PM at Stillwater Public Library, online registration via Metro Skywarn.

Technician Class – Mar 5th – Apr 23rd 6-8 PM, new manuals are on hand and ready to be loaned to instructors.

VE Session – Apr 30th at Boutwells.

Newsletter Content – Dave WØOXB

Proposed deadline for the February issue is Jan 31st and will be published by Feb 6th. Discussed different ways to drive traffic to the website and how to spread out the information in a blog format over time.

Repeater – Henry KØHAS said the equipment was working OK but there is still some interference being experienced.

Unfinished Business:

Election Recap – There were 29 votes cast, most by electronic voting. We currently have 58 voting members and 6 associate members.

Computer Replacement – The three laptops were purchased under budget and the software has been installed.

Coffee Mug with Club Logo – Keith AGØH is continuing to do research on several options. He would welcome any suggestions or graphic design help with this project.

Pop-up Shelters & Heaters – Discussed whether an external propane hose would help in winter setups. A motion was made, seconded and approved to purchase a hose for an external tank.

New Business

Officer duties and additional assignments – Currently laid out in the club constitution and bylaws.

2015 calendar will be put on the club website.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to grant Mayor Rudy Rodriquez of White Rock, SD an associate club membership.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to grant SEMARC President Dave Finley KA8VHF an associate club membership.
