BOARD MEETING MINUTES – December 18, 2014

Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM

Minutes for November 20, 2014 Board Meeting were read and approved as published.

Dues-to-date are about $1200 – paid by 51 regular members and 6 associate members.

Activities/Events & MAP – Dave WØOXB

Meeting Programs:
January – Election of Officers and SWEEP (SARA White Elephant Exchange Party)

Motion made to give a raffle ticket to everyone bringing a wrapped present to the January meeting. The ticket is for a drawing to win a $50 Radio City gift certificate. Motion was seconded and carried. Dave offered to stop by Radio City to get the gift certificate.

February – Greg KØGW will give an ARRL update on news events and benefits of ARRL membership.

Other possible future programs – Pat WAØTDA on Remote Station Operations, Mike NØODK on Fun With DX, Lyle KØLR on SDR, and Dick NØUC on Broadband Ham Net.

Ice Shack Portable Special Event:
February 14-16, 2015
Location – Goose Lake, Scandia, MN
Since the event starts on a scheduled general membership meeting day, some people will set up in the morning at the lake and the rest will join them after the meeting adjourns.

Assistance Program: Jim WØELC has requested help relocating his antenna – due to weather this will be delayed until the Spring. Brian WØFL from Crystal has volunteered to help with the Handiham HEARTS program.

Education & Training – Bob WØGAF

Skywarn class is scheduled for February 28th – there will be an online sign up process.

Technician class is scheduled for March 5th.

VE Session is tentatively scheduled for April 30th.

New textbooks are needed for the upcoming classes and for a library copy. A motion to add one library copy and five technician books to the current order from ARRL at $22.46 each was made, seconded and carried.

Newsletter – Pat WAØTDA

Newsletter submissions would be appreciated as early as possible due to the holidays. Board suggested a deadline of Sunday, December 28th for the January newsletter.

A motion to add Bill KDØOTB to the ballot for the Director position was made, seconded and carried.

Election Process – A mass e-mail will be sent by Shel NØDRX January 1st to all current 2015 regular members. They will be given a list of candidates with slots for any write-in candidates. Electronic voting will be closed at midnight prior to the regular Saturday meeting in January. Members may vote at the regular meeting or by e-mail but they may only vote once.

Computer Replacement Update – Bob WØGAF, Dave WØOXB and Joe KCØOIO are researching computer deals to replace our three aging logging computers. A discussion of minimum capability of the new computers included at least 80 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM, 1.5 GHz processor and Windows 7 software. They will try to make the purchase during the holiday sales following Christmas.

Coffee mug with club logo – Keith AGØH reported his research about a supplier of coffee mugs for about $3.50 each with a minimum order of 50 to 60. Several other options were discussed. A motion was made to table the item for continued discussion at a future meeting. The motion was seconded and carried.
