Field Day 2022

SARA will be calling CQ Field Day June 25 and 26, 2022 with a full “WØJH 2A MN” Field Day operation at Autumn Hills Park, which has been our Field Day home for the past several years.

We’ll have a station at the park’s pavilion using one of the club’s radios. And we will also have a 2nd station that will be a CW / “Bring Your Own Rig” station, complete with antenna and tuner and power source. Just connect your radio and you are on the air! We will provide for regular cleaning of contact surfaces on the logging computer keyboard, mouse, and radios with alcohol wipes.

The Park is located 5701 Norwich Parkway in Oak Parks, just west of Boutwells Landing and south of the OPH water tower. There is road construction on Norell Ave from Hwy 36 to 58th Street, detours are posted. The posted detour is Highway 36 to Oakgreen, Avenue, head south on Oakgreen to 58th St, turn right, then head west back to Norell. Continue past Norell to Norwich Parkway and turn left onto Norwich. The Park is on your left.

The schedule for the Field Day Weekend calls for set-up beginning at 10:00 AM June 25. We can go on the air at 1:00 PM CDT (18:00 UTC) and will operate until about sundown Saturday evening. We’ll return to the site Sunday morning June 26 and be back on the air by 9:00 AM. Final teardown and pack up begins at 1:00 PM Sunday.

There is a minimal food plan this year. We will have coffee and donuts available each morning. And pizzas likely will be ordered Saturday evening. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverage. Bottled water will be provided by SARA. Also, we do have an alcoholic beverage permit this year, so you may bring your own “adult beverages.”

If you choose to not join us onsite, you can work from home stations again this year and submit your own logs and points to the ARRL referencing Stillwater Amateur Radio Association-MN for the compiled club score. The rule waiver allowing working other Class D and Class E stations as valid contacts in now a permanent rule change. Maximum power for ALL stations is limited to 150W. Instructions for submitting your log to to ARRL will be available here following the event.
